Sports Illustrated is a familiar name to many sports fans. SI has been a major sports publisher for decades, so jumping into the sports betting industry was a logical move for the company.

After an exclusive partnership with 888 Holdings, Sports Illustrated launched SI Sportsbook in 2021.

SI Sportsbook made waves with its initial $7,500 welcome bonus.

Currently, they offer new users a bet $20 win $200 in bonus bets bonus.

The launch of SI Sportsbook isn’t a surprise to us. We’ve seen many sports-affiliated brands jump into the sports betting world with hopes of becoming the next DraftKings—most have failed, and only a select few have been able to crack the industry’s code.

Whether Sports Illustrated will succeed in the industry remains a mystery.

For now, after reviewing the site, all we’re sure of is this: Sports Illustrated is a top-notch sportsbook that can easily compete with the industry’s big guns.

Here’s our full SI Sportsbook review.

Pros & Cons Of SI Sportsbook

Pros:

  • One of the heftiest welcome bonuses around
  • Offers great sports-specific promos
  • Has an aesthetically pleasing site and app
  • Is a respected and trusted brand
  • Promos have reasonable wagering requirements
  • SI Sportsbook has competitive odds

Cons:

  • No live customer support
  • Currently not available in many states
  • Has limited withdrawal options

Would We Place Sports Bets At SI Sportsbook?

Sports Illustrated has proven that it isn’t just leveraging its name in the hopes of drawing in more customers.

The sportsbook has a great platform, competitive odds, and one of the best welcome bonuses in the industry.

The sportsbook is currently only available in one state, but that will surely change soon.

Some of the few cons that we’ve mentioned will also be addressed when the sportsbook ventures into other states.

And, truthfully, some of those cons feel like nitpicks. Just compare the sportsbook with others in the industry to see what we mean.

In short, SI has everything that bettors want in a modern-day sportsbook.

For us, this is a simple no-brainer; we would definitely place sports bets at SI Sportsbook.

Betting Odds Quality

When we compared the odds that SI offers with those of other sportsbooks, we found that the odds are quite competitive.

In particular, the odds for moneyline bets, variety of prop bets, and futures bets are some of the best in the industry.

When it comes to totals and point spreads, SI mainly offers standard juice. So in most situations, you’ll be dealing with -110 on both sides of the spread.

In-Depth Look At SI Sportsbook

Sports Illustrated has been around for decades.

The sports magazine launched in the mid-1900s and SI’s first issue was published in August 1954.

Since then, Sports Illustrated has become known for other complementary products, such as the annual swimsuit issue that the magazine publishes.

Sports Illustrated was purchased by Authentic Brands Group in 2019.

ABG planned to grow the brand by venturing into different industries, including sports betting and online gambling.

In 2021, Authentic Brands made that dream possible when they partnered with 888 Holdings to launch SI Sportsbook.

Unlike other online sportsbooks which choose to launch in New Jersey, SI Sportsbook made waves by debuting in the Centennial State.

This is because 888 Holdings already has a sportsbook in New Jersey, and as per 888’s agreement with Authentic Brands, 888 Sport is soon going to be rebranded to SI Sportsbook.

SI Bonus Details

As we stated before, one of the pros of SI Sportsbook is the welcome bonus, specifically, the amount that they offer on their welcome bonus.

SI’s welcome bonus is a bonus bets.

New bettors who create an SI sports betting account can bet $20 and win $200 in bonus bets. If their first wager on the site is a losing bet.

To get this offer, you will not need to use the promo code when you’re making your first-ever deposit on the site.

Once you have funds in your account, you can now place your first bet—ensure that your bet has odds of +120 or better.

If you end up losing this bet, SI will give you a full refund in the form of bonus bets. If you win your first bet, SI won’t reward you with a bonus.

However, in such a case, you’ll still have your original stake plus the profit from that first bet.

Here are other things that you need to note regarding SI’s bonus bets:

  • Your first qualifying wager needs to be placed within 7 days of your first-ever deposit.
  • The bonus bets that you receive will also expire if you don’t use them within 7 days.
  • Refunds will be given in the form of bonus bet tokens.
  • The bonus has a 1x rollover.
  • If you place a wager using the bonus bet tokens, your final payout won’t include the stake that you used to place the bet. Essentially, you’ll only receive the profit from that wager.
  • The bonus bet tokens don’t have any minimum odds requirements attached to them.

In addition to their welcome bonus, there are also many other promos on the site so be sure to visit the SI Sportsbook promotions page to find the latest offer.

Since SI is a sports brand, you’ll always have several sports-specific bonuses and promos to look forward to.

Registration Process At SI Sportsbook

If you want to enjoy SI’s perks, like the above-mentioned bonus, you’ll need to sign up.

Fortunately, Sports Illustrated has an easy registration process. If you’re new to the site, here are the steps that you need to follow:

  • Download the SI sportsbook app.
  • Click the red “Join Now” button.
  • On the first registration page that appears, you’ll need to provide these personal details: Your name, address, birth date, and the last 4 digits of your SSN.
  • On the next page, you’ll be required to enter your email, password, and your phone number. You’ll also need to enter a security question.
  • After you’ve entered all these details, confirm that you’re over 21 years, agree to the terms, and then click register.
  • You’ll need to verify your account by providing documents that prove your identity and your address.
  • Once your account has been verified, you can begin placing bets.

You can only opt into the welcome bonus after your account has been verified.

SI App Experience

The SI Sportsbook app can be downloaded by both iOS and Android users.

The app is available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple app store, so you can easily download the app from your respective app store.

Alternatively, you can also get the app directly from SI’s mobile or desktop site.

The app is a redesigned version of 888 Sport, an app that is highly rated by many sports bettors.

While testing it out ourselves, we were extremely pleased with the app’s performance. There was barely any lag, and navigation was super smooth.

The app has an extremely pleasing aesthetic; the sportsbook combines SI’s primary colors perfectly, and the result is a stunning layout.

Plus, everything on the app is not only visible but also well-labeled.

So even if you’re new to sports betting, you can still find your way around the app without any problems.

There are many unique features on the app.

You can personalize the home page to focus on your go-to sports; this will help you save on time when you’re placing live bets or when you’re in a rush, and you want to place a quick, last-minute wager.

As you can tell, we were extremely pleased by the SI Sportsbook app, and we’re sure that other bettors will also be fascinated by it.

GeoComply

GeoComply is used by all legal sportsbooks. If you’re using a PC to place bets, you’ll need to download the GeoComply plugin.

Once you’ve downloaded the plugin on your PC after the sportsbook has prompted you to do so, click “Run” to install it.

SI will now use this software to verify that you’re in one of the states that they operate in.

Mobile bettors using the SI app don’t need to download an accompanying app, but you need to make sure that your location services have been enabled.

SI Site Experience

Bettors who are accustomed to bigger screens can use their personal computers to access SI’s desktop site.

Just like the mobile app, SI’s desktop site is a revamped version of 888 Sport. That shouldn’t scare you; 888’s site has often been viewed as an elite betting platform.

Kambi previously powered 888’s site, but the two companies parted ways. 888 later created its own proprietary software and has been using its own tech since then.

So, just like SI’s app, you’re getting a slick website that is extremely easy to navigate. There are a lot of user-friendly tools, such as the ability to change the odds to your desired format.

Concerning the site’s outlook, SI’s custom red and black corporate colors blend in perfectly to create a stunning design, and the result is a captivating site that will leave you in awe.

Overall, just like the mobile app, the desktop site will surely please 99% of bettors.

SI Sports Betting

You can wager on several sports markets on SI Sportsbook. You may not find a dozen niche sports, but there are still plenty of sports that you can bet on.

Here’s a list of all the sports that SI offers:

  • Baseball
  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Ice Hockey
  • Soccer
  • Cricket
  • Boxing
  • Darts
  • Golf

Here’s a list of bets that you can place on the above sports:

  • Point Spreads
  • Moneyline bets
  • Totals bets
  • Teasers
  • In-play bets
  • Same game parlays
  • Futures bets
  • Prop bets

Notable Features

Some of Sports Illustrated’s notable features include the following:

  • Betfeed – With this feature, you can see some of the most popular and trending bets in each sport.
  • Odds Format – This is a handy widget that allows you to change to your desired odds format. For example, if you’re used to decimal odds instead of American odds, you can use this widget to change to decimal odds.
  • Early cash out – You don’t have to wait till the end of a game for your bet to be decided. You can cash out your bet early, and you’ll still receive a significant portion of your winnings and your stake. This is great in scenarios where you’re winning a bet but there’s still a possibility that you might lose the bet in the later stages of a game.

Understanding Betting Options At Sports Illustrated

SI has hundreds of sports markets, and you can place both pre-game and live bets on many of the sports that they offer.

The minimum amount that you can risk is $0.10, which is definitely handy for bettors who are on a budget.

You can bet as much as you want, but your winnings will be capped depending on the sport that you’re betting on.

The maximum that you can win from a soccer bet is $250,000, while the maximum that you can win from a basketball or hockey bet is $100,000.

Surprisingly, football and baseball bets are currently capped at $50,000.

As they venture into more states, we expect such upper limits to be increased.

There also may be different betting limits for new users.

Deposit & Withdrawals

Sports Illustrated has several banking options, so you have the freedom of choosing the most appropriate payment option.

If you want to deposit funds into your betting account, here are the methods that you can use:

  • VISA
  • MasterCard
  • Play+
  • Bank Transfer (ACH)
  • Discover
  • Online Banking Transfer
  • PayNearMe
  • Cash at the casino cage

Deposits take around 10 minutes to process.

The minimum amount that you can deposit into your Sports Illustrated betting account is $10, but the maximum will depend on the chosen method.

The maximum amount that you can deposit will also depend on your playing status.

If you choose to go for the Play+ card, you can also use it in shops and online stores that accept Discover.

If you wish to withdraw your funds, here are the methods that you can use:

  • Bank Transfer (ACH)
  • Cash at the casino cage
  • Play+

If you opt for a bank transfer, it can take up to three business days for the funds to reach your account, while Play+ withdrawals can take up to four days.

The minimum amount that you can withdraw is $10 for bank transfers and $20 for Play+ withdrawals.

SI Sportsbook State Restrictions

Many states still haven’t legalized sports betting, but that is destined to change in the coming years.

Sports betting once had a negative outlook, but after the 2018 Supreme Court ruling, many states have seen the positive impacts of sports betting.

Currently, SI Sportsbook can only be accessed by bettors who are in:

  • Virginia
  • Michigan

However, by the end of 2022, the sportsbook is expected to be available to New Jersey, Indiana, and Iowa bettors.

Loyalty Programs

At the time of writing, SI Sportsbook does not have a loyalty program.

This is likely to change in the future, so we’ll definitely give you an update if Sports Illustrated creates a rewards program.

Customer Service

You can contact SI’s customer support by going to the “Contact Us” page.

Once there, you’ll need to fill out a form, and a representative from SI will get back to you to assist you with your problem. Alternatively, you can email them directly.

There’s also an FAQ page, though it isn’t as comprehensive as one would expect it to be.

Sadly, there is no 24/7 live chat.

This is a huge con, especially when you consider that it’s a common feature on many other sportsbooks.

SI Sportsbook Safety & Security

SI is a safe and secure site. They use top-class encryption software, which guarantees that anything you share with the site is safe from hackers.

888 Holdings, the platform’s software provider, has been in the online gambling space for over 20 years and has a spotless record when it comes to matters of safety and security.

Of course, you need to practice basic security measures if you want to ensure the constant safety of your sports betting account.

The most basic but fundamental thing that you can do is to choose a strong username and password.

Additionally, you need to make sure that no one else has access to your login credentials.
