The San Francisco 49ers have lost three games in a row, and the Jacksonville Jaguars have won five games in a row.
These two teams are trending in opposite directions right now.
With the quality of this 49ers team and the strong start for the Jaguars, is it fair to say this game is a Super Bowl 58 preview?
Maybe, maybe not.
DraftKings currently has San Francisco with the third-shortest odds to win the Super Bowl at +600, and Jacksonville’s odds of +1600 to win the Big Game are the ninth-shortest odds.
Whether or not this game is a Super Bowl preview, it’s certainly interesting.
For this Week 10 matchup, I’ll make it more interesting by placing a Same Game Parlay on DraftKings.
Let’s find some juicy legs for this same-gamer.
Brock Purdy – OVER 244.5 Passing Yards (-115 DraftKings) AND OVER 1.5 TD Passes (-110 DraftKings)
The Jaguars have the NFL’s 29th-ranked passing defense, allowing 274.9 passing yards per game.
If the 49ers are going to get back on track, they’ll need Brock Purdy to get back on track first.
This matchup against Jacksonville’s soft passing defense provides Purdy that opportunity.
Purdy is averaging 254.1 passing yards per game this season, and he’s hit 250 or more yards in five of his last six games.
Here’s how Purdy has fared against his passing yards props in the last five games, courtesy of BestOdds EDGE:
Purdy failed to hit the over on his yards prop against the Cleveland Browns, but Cleveland may have the best defense in the NFL right now, so I’ll cut Purdy some slack for that one.
The interceptions have been a problem for Purdy of late, tossing all five of his picks in the last three games.
The Jaguars have 11 interceptions this season, tied for the second-most in the NFL, but they continue to allow large yardage totals to QBs.
Here’s how opposing QBs have done against the Niners’ defense in the last few weeks, courtesy of BestOdds EDGE:
Three of the last four quarterbacks have crushed the over on their passing yard props against San Fran, with Kenny Pickett falling well short due to injury.
I’m backing Purdy to carry the 49ers offense against the Jags in Week 10.
Christian McCaffrey – OVER 4.5 Receptions (+120 DraftKings) AND OVER 31.5 Receiving Yards (-115 DraftKings)
As one of the best receiving running backs in the NFL, both of McCaffrey’s receptions and receiving yard props feel very low to me.
If McCaffrey caught eight balls for 100 yards this weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.
McCaffrey could be in for a big pass-catching game, as Jacksonville has left opposing running backs wide open the last few games.
Here’s how running backs have done on the receiving end against the Jaguars in the last three games:
Opponent | Running Back | Receptions & Yards |
Indianapolis | Jonathan Taylor | 5 Rec, 46 Yds |
New Orleans | Alvina Kamara | 12 Rec, 91 Yds |
Pittsburgh | Najee Harris | 5 Rec, 42 Yds |
McCaffrey caught six passes for 64 yards and a touchdown last week, and I can see him duplicating that effort in Week 10 against the Jags.
While he is only averaging 36.5 receiving yards per game this season, McCaffrey has eclipsed 31.5 yards in half of his eight games; including in each of the last two games where he has tallied over 50 receiving yards a piece.
McCaffrey is averaging 48.8 receiving yards per game over his entire career, and despite his career-low average right now, there may not be a better pass-catching back in the NFL.
If the 49ers are going to get back to their winning ways, they’ll need McCaffrey to get back to what he does best: everything.
Trevor Lawrence – OVER 244.5 Passing Yards (-115 DraftKings)
Most likely, at some point in this game, the Jaguars will play from behind.
Usually, when a quarterback has a negative deficit to make up, their passing yards go up, and rightfully so, based on a negative game script.
Lawrence hasn’t been throwing for many yards lately, and a large factor of the lower passing yard totals stem from Jacksonville’s positive game scripts.
When a QB’s team is on a five-game winning streak, that can happen.
Things will get tough again for Lawrence and the Jags, as the 49ers are a very difficult opponent, but the Niners’ defense still manages to allow decent passing yard totals from opposing QBs.
In the last two games, San Francisco has allowed 378 yards to Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings and 283 yards to Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals.
In a similar fashion to Jacksonville’s Week 3 loss to the Houston Texans, when Lawrence totaled 279 passing yards, I expect him to be playing from behind in Week 10.

If Trevor Lawrence’s deep ball is really that good, he’ll need to show it off this Sunday.

Betting NFL Same Game Parlays
Same game parlay is just like a regular NFL parlay bet, except all bet selections come from different wagers within one football game.
The benefit of an NFL same game parlay is achieved by combining multiple bets so you can go for bigger wins as the odds increase.
The more bet selections you add, the more difficult it is to win, but the odds also greatly increase so is the potential winning amount.
