Like your Dad always said, “Defense wins championships”.
Well, there are no championships won in late September, so offenses reign supreme!
Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders brought his luggage to Boulder, and his luggage is ‘Louis’.
"I'm bringing my own luggage and it's Louis…"

This Colorado offense may be ‘Louis’, but the defense that coach Sanders is lugging around is more like ‘Samsonite’.
Actually, ‘Samsonite’ may even be too dependable a brand to describe this Buffs defense.
The Buffs lost to the USC Trojans last week, 48-41, the final score appearing much closer than the 34-14 halftime deficit for Colorado.
And while coach Sanders famously claims “He ain’t hard to find”, neither are the gaps in his defense.
Caleb Williams shredded Coach Prime’s defense, completing 30 of 40 passes for 403 yards and six touchdowns.
The Trojans’ QB is now just +170 to win the Heisman at FanDuel Sportsbook.
Buffs’ quarterback Shedeur Sanders did his part to keep Colorado relevant in the contest, completing 30 of 45 passes for 371 yards and four touchdowns, also running for another 50 yards and a touchdown.
If that game wasn’t enough for fans of an offensive onslaught, the LSU-Ole Miss matchup certainly captured their attention.
The Ole Miss Rebels outlasted the LSU Tigers in Week 5, winning 55-49.
These offenses went back-and-forth like a tennis match until the Rebels’ defense finally showed up to take the match point, halting the Tigers final fling into the endzone.

The game totaled 1,343 yards of total offense and 104 points.
In all 51 matchups between FBS schools in Week 5, the over was 34-17.
With no defense to be found, Dad’s were left shaking their heads on Saturday.
The Remaining Undefeated
As we approach the half-way point of the College Football season, of the 133 FBS-level football teams, 21 teams remain undefeated.
The Louisville Cardinals, Florida State Seminoles, and UNC Tar Heels are currently undefeated in the increasingly competitive ACC.
No. 25 Louisville puts their 5-0 record on the line this week against No. 10 Notre Dame, and the Cardinals are set as +6.5 point underdogs at home.
Bettors thinking that Louisville can take the ACC this year can find their best odds to win the conference at +1100 on Bet365.
The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns are the final two unbeaten teams in the Big 12, but one will soon walk away as ‘el ultimo hombre’ of the Big 12 in Week 6, as Oklahoma and Texas meet up in the Red River Rivalry on Saturday.
Four teams remain undefeated in the Big 10: the Penn State Nittany Lions, Maryland Terrapins, Michigan Wolverines, and Ohio State Buckeyes.
Ohio State and Maryland square up in Columbus this week, and the Buckeyes are set as -18.5 point favorites.
Four teams in the Pac-12 remain undefeated as well: the USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, Washington Huskies, and Washington State Cougars.
No. 16 Washington State finds themselves as +3.5 point underdogs on the road against the UCLA Bruins this week, a potential upset for UCLA.
Only three teams in the SEC Conference remain undefeated: the Georgia Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, and Missouri Tigers.
No. 1 Georgia and No. 20 Kentucky go head-to-head in Athens, Georgia this Saturday, guaranteeing another undefeated team in the SEC to lose.
In a battle of ‘Tigers’, No. 21 Missouri will put their undefeated mark to the test against the No. 23 LSU Tigers in Week 6.
Missouri has had a solid start to 2023, and for those thinking that Mizzou can win the SEC, their odds to win the conference sit at +20000 on BetRivers.
The ‘Group of Five’ schools that remain undefeated: the Liberty Flames in the C-USA, the Air Force Falcons and Fresno State Bulldogs of the Mountain West Conference, and the James Madison Dukes and Marshall Thundering Herd of the Sun Belt Conference.
The Remaining Defeated
There are 21 undefeated teams remaining in the FBS, but just three teams have yet to pick up a win in 2023: the Virginia Cavaliers, Sam Houston Bearkats, and Nevada Wolf Pack.
Virginia has had a few close calls, losing to James Madison by one, and losing each of their last two games against NC State and Boston College by just three points.
Virginia is almost certain to win their first game in Week 6 against FCS-level William & Mary.
Weird things happen, which is why I said “almost certain” to win.
Sam Houston puts their completely defeated season on the line against the undefeated Liberty Flames on Thursday.
Liberty is currently 19-point favorites, and rightfully so.
The Bearkats will likely be defeated once again.
Also, who can back a team with a misspelled name like ‘Bearkats’?
As for Nevada, they get a week off to rest their weary bones before taking on in-state rival UNLV in Week 7.
The good news for these three teams is that there is nowhere to go but up.
Although, whenever they decide to start going up remains to be seen.
