As back-to-back National Champions, there was little doubt about who the best team in the SEC East division would be this year.

The Georgia Bulldogs have run the tables to date and are a perfect 11-0 (8-0 in SEC Conference play.)

The Bulldogs are betting favorites to win the SEC Championship, but have they done enough to remain the betting favorite to win another National Title?

Let’s dive into the top SEC Teams as the 2023 CFB regular season is almost finished and check in on Georgia while they chase college football history.

2023 SEC Football Betting Odds Reports

At the beginning of the season, we suggested that if anyone was going to challenge Georgia from the SEC East, it would be Tennessee, South Carolina, or Kentucky.

Where we missed was excluding the University of Missouri from our list of great SEC teams.

The 10th-ranked Tigers have quality wins this year against

  • Kansas State
  • Kentucky
  • South Carolina
  • Florida
  • Tennesse

Missouri held their own in losses to Georgia and LSU, and overall, they have earned their Top 10 ranking to date.

Unfortunately, being ranked 10th in the Country is not good enough to get you to the SEC Championship game when you play in the SEC East.

When Alabama rolled into Texas early in the regular season and proceeded to lose, storylines announcing the end of the Nick Saban Alabama dynasty started circulating.

It turns out Nick Saban did not forget how to coach overnight, and news flash – Alabama is actually still very good.

Let’s check in on the SEC Betting Odds and see where all the great SEC teams are at.

National Championship Odds

This is the last year of college football’s four-team playoff format.

With only four teams making the playoffs, several very good SEC teams (see the Missouri Tigers) had a great season but won’t make the playoffs.

Only Georgia and Alabama from the SEC have National Championship odds.

Georgia +230 To Win National Championship

Georgia’s sights are set on a historic, unprecedented three-peat.

After emerging as National Champions in the last two seasons, the Bulldogs are trying to do something that hasn’t been done since the Minnesota Golden Gophers won three consecutive national championships in the 1930s.

The Bulldogs are approaching a 30-game consecutive win streak and are the betting favorites to win another title.

However, their odds have held relatively steady for the year, and despite winning all 11 of their games, bettors can still lock them in for a price similar to what they opened at.

Early season wins against South Carolina and Auburn were unimpressive, and odds on Georgia as the best team in the country briefly spiked to +300.

However, the Bulldogs look strong as they close out the regular season.

Obviously, the SEC Championship game vs Alabama will tell us a lot.

Alabama +750 To Win National Championship

At the beginning of the season, we suggested that Alabama would avenge their loss to LSU a year ago, which prevented them from a shot at the SEC Championship and a place in the four-team college football playoff system.

For those of you who jumped on the Alabama bandwagon based on our preseason ramblings, you (like us) must have been very concerned when Alabama dropped a 34-24 decision to Texas in just their second game this year.

The very next week, the Crimson Tide beat South Florida 17-3, a game in which they were favored by 34.5 points.

The NCAAF betting world became divided on whether Alabama was still even relevant in the national championship conversation.

Skeptics were concerned about the transfer portal, players leaving early, their QB play, Nick Saban’s age, and I’m sure a whole bunch more I am forgetting to list.

Those who bailed on the Alabama train after their early season stumble missed the Crimson Tide winning nine consecutive games and covering the spread in seven of their last eight games.

Alabama finds itself in the SEC Championship game, with a path to the college football playoffs.

Beating Georgia will not be easy, but it’s Nick Saban; it’s Alabama football.

Are you really going to count them out?

Oddsmakers have set the Georgia Bulldogs as the betting favorite. The point spread line is currently 3.5 points.

There are key numbers in football betting, 3, 7, and 10 being some of the most important point spread numbers for bettors to consider.

Georgia vs Alabama is expected to be a great game, and it could come down to a game-winning kick by either team.

Georgia bettors would love to see the spread get all the way down to 2.5 points and be below the key number of 3.

Crimson Tide bettors must like getting that half-point above the 3 already, and a lot of Alabama bettors might place their bets early in fear of that 3.5 spread dropping to just 3.

Often, as bettors, we are fixated on the short-term results.

A $25 wager might only return $33 with one sportsbook and $37 with another.

The $4 difference in profit doesn’t jump off the page and get us excited, but as a financial investor, it should.

That $4 of additional profit represents a significant number as an ROI percentage.

If we could win an additional 10 or 15% of profit each time we won a bet, it would have a significant impact on our overall profit.
