Another college football season brings forth a great opportunity to place some football wagers.

As expected, the Pac-12 conference looks to be among the most competitive of the power 5 conferences.

USC will undoubtedly be the team to beat this year, but you shouldn’t sleep on the other contenders like Washington, Oregon, Utah, and Oregon State.

Of course, shocks are bound to happen, and we wouldn’t be stunned if one of the newer coaches in the conference pulls off a surprise.

With all that in mind, here’s a betting preview for the 2023 Pac-12 Conference.

2023 Pac-12 Conference Football Betting Odds Reports

To no one’s surprise, USC enter the season as the most favored team in the conference.

This is rightfully so after the team topped the regular season standings in 2022, even despite losing the Pac-12 Football Championship Game to defending champs, the Utah Utes.

Washington, Utah, and Oregon were closely behind the USC Trojans football program, with all three teams finishing in a three-way tie for second place and are tightly tipped to cause trouble once again this season.

Oregon State and UCLA round off last season’s top 6 teams and are worth keeping an eye on this year.

Below, we will highlight our top favorites and other leading contenders for this season.

The Favorites

USC

The USC Trojans football team had a stellar 2022 season and is by far the favorite team heading into the 2023 season.

In his first season coaching USC, Coach Lincoln Riley led them to an almost unbeaten 8-1 conference record and nearly helped them qualify for the CFB Playoff.

After topping the standings, the Trojans met the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 Football Championship Game but lost 47-24. Despite this, the result should spur Riley and his troops to go one further in the upcoming season.

Even with the departures of Tuli Tuipulotu and Mekhi Blackmon, who are both bound for the NFL, USC can still rely on the talents of quarterback Caleb Williams during the season.

With odds of +1500 to win the 2024 National Championship, it’s fair to say that the Trojans are the team to beat in the Pac-12 Conference.

Utah

The Utah Utes football team will have its sights on making history by targeting an unprecedented 3-peat.

They defended their crown by beating the USC Trojans, the team with the best conference record, in the decisive 2022 Pac-12 Football Championship Game.

In fact, the Utes were the only team to beat USC during the regular season and played spoilers by denying USC a berth in the playoffs.

Their chances of a 3-peat look strong, with beloved Cameron Rising opting to return for one more season instead of declaring for the NFL.

Additionally, the Utes still have the talents of Ja’Quinden Jackson and Brant Kuithe, both of whom will be integral to the side.

Plus, the team can also rely on Kyle Whittingham’s vast experience, as this will be his 19th year in charge of the Utes.

Whittingham could lead them to further glory by targeting the 2024 National Championship, which they are priced at +3600 on most sportsbooks.

Washington

After a 4-8 record in 2021, the Washington Huskies football team was impressive in Kalen DeBoer’s first year in charge of the side, as the new coach helped the team achieve an 11-2 record.

Aside from the Pac-12 Football Championship, the team should also be targeting the CFB Playoff this year.

Though a couple of players have departed, integral figures like Michael Penix Jr. and Jalen McMillan opted to return, which should be a massive boost for the team.

For those that think that DeBoer has a playoff-winning team on his hands, you can back Washington to win the 2024 National Championship at +4000 just before the season starts.

The Contenders

Oregon

Like Utah and Washington, Oregon finished with a 7-2 conference record in 2022, with all teams finishing in a three-way tie for second place.

Oregon’s star QB, Bo Nix, will be returning, along with other stars like Bucky Irving and Noah Whittington. The team also managed to poach Traeshon Holden from Alabama and Tez Johnson from the Troy Trojans football team.

Dan Lanning will want to improve things in his second season in charge of the Oregon Ducks football program. The head coach will undoubtedly be targeting the Pac-12 Championship, a title that Oregon last won in 2020.

Apart from regional dominance, the Ducks are also fairly priced for the 2024 National Championship, with DraftKings pricing them at +3500 and FanDuel at +3000.

UCLA

UCLA finished the season with a 9-4 record, which marked Chip Kelly’s best record as Bruins head coach in his 5 seasons in charge of the team.

This season, however, may be a tougher task for Kelly and co. Two of the team’s star players, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Zach Charbonnet, are NFL bound.

This means that there’ll be a lot of reshuffling at QB and RB.

Still, UCLA should be one of the teams to beat in the conference, and they may even be a surprise package for the 2024 National Championship—the bookies have them at +10000 to win it all!

Oregon State

Oregon State finished with a 6-3 conference record in 2022.

Coach Jonathan Smith’s success mainly resulted from his offense, which is led by Damien Martinez, and the rising star RB is expected to dominate proceedings once again in 2023.

DJ Uiagalelei, a former five-star recruit and a graduate transfer, transferred to Oregon State and should hold down the QB position.

This will help solve their prior QB issues, as the side had to rely on Freshman Ben Gulbranson for the majority of 2022.

Their chances and hopes for the Pac-12 title game seem high this time around, but they’ve got a tougher task of clinching the 2024 National Championship.

Most bookies have the Beavers priced at a stunning +10000 to be the National Championship game winner, a hefty price, to say the least.

Washington State

With a 4-5 mark in the conference and a 7-6 record overall, it’s fair to say that Washington State is a middle-of-the-road team.

Still, a winning mark should please coach Jake Dickert as he heads into his second season with the Cougars.

The last time that Washington State was crowned Pac-12 Conference football champions was in 2002 when Mike Price was still the head coach of the football program.
