Betting NFL QB Passing Yards Leader: Finding Value Among All The QBs

NFL Quarterbacks are judged on their ability to throw the ball. Last year, Matthew Stafford led the league in passing yards (4,707), and the Rams QB also won his first NFL MVP Award.

Do Passing Yards = MVP Awards

2025 – Matthew Stafford led NFL with 4,707 yards and won the MVP
2022 – Patrick Mahomes led NFL with 5,250 yards and won the MVP
2017 – Tom Brady led NFL with 4,577 yards and won the MVP

There are definitely examples of QBs leading the league in passing yards AND winning the MVP Award. But for every Stafford, Mahomes, and Brady, there is a Joe Burrow (2024), Tua Tagovailoa (2023), Deshaun Watson (2020), and Jameis Winston (2019) who threw for a ton of yardage but didn’t win MVP.

The current betting favorites are all established quarterbacks with a history of throwing for lots of yards. However, don’t sleep on CJ Stroud (+900) and Bryce Young (+1200); both are averaging over 285 passing yards per game.

QBs To Lead The League In Passing Yards

Matthew Stafford +350

Stafford threw for 276.9 yards per game last year while attempting over 35 passes.
This year, the reigning MVP averages 299 yards per game and 41 attempts.

Joe Burrow +650

The 2024 passing-yards leader averages 272.2 yards per game, despite the Bengals dealing with some receiver injuries.
Burrow is averaging almost 38 pass attempts per game through five games this year.

CJ Stroud +900

Last year, Stroud averaged only 217 yards per game on just over 30 attempts.
This year, the Texans QB averages 285.7 yards per game on 36.5 attempts. Those are big splits.

Bryce Young +1200

Young leads the league with 309.8 passing yards per game. He is doing it while attempting 40 passes per game.
Last year, the Panthers QB averaged only 188 passing yards per game, with just over 30 attempts.
If the Panthers allow Young to throw the ball 40 times per game, he could be great value at +1200.
