NFL top quarterbacks for 2026 Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen has claimed the top spot in ESPN’s annual quarterback rankings, a survey compiled from more than 70 NFL executives, coaches and scouts across the league. After years of Patrick Mahomes dominating similar polls, Allen edged the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback following another outstanding campaign that reinforced his standing as one of football’s most complete players. The rankings reflect current performance rather than career accomplishments, with evaluators weighing recent production, leadership, consistency and physical ability. Veterans continue to dominate the upper half of the list, but several younger quarterbacks are beginning to climb after impressive seasons. Matthew Stafford’s resurgence with the L.A.  Rams was among the biggest stories, while second-year stars Drake Maye and Caleb Williams both cracked the top 10 for the first time. The rankings are worth watching as fans may begin considering NFL betting.

ESPN’s Top 10 NFL Quarterbacks for 2026

1. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills Allen earned the No. 1 ranking thanks to his combination of elite arm strength, mobility and improved decision-making. Evaluators praised his ability to create explosive plays while continuing to reduce mistakes.   2. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs Despite dropping one spot, Mahomes remains one of the league’s most respected quarterbacks. Scouts believe his playmaking instincts and football intelligence still make him dangerous whenever healthy. 3. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams Stafford enjoyed a remarkable resurgence, leading one of the NFL’s most productive passing offenses. His accuracy, anticipation and experience earned widespread praise from league decision-makers. 4. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals Burrow remains one of the NFL’s premier pocket passers. While durability continues to be a talking point, executives still view his accuracy and decision-making among the league’s best. 5. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens Jackson’s dual-threat ability continues to separate him from nearly every quarterback in football. His athleticism forces defenses to account for both his arm and rushing ability on every snap. 6. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys Prescott climbed after another efficient season directing Dallas’ offense. Coaches highlighted his leadership, command at the line of scrimmage and consistency. 7. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers Herbert’s elite arm talent remains unquestioned. League evaluators believe continued improvement around him could lead to even bigger statistical seasons. 8. Drake Maye, New England Patriots Maye’s rapid development has been one of the NFL’s biggest success stories. Executives praised his poise, arm strength and ability to elevate a rebuilding Patriots offense. 9. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions Goff continues proving he belongs among the NFL’s elite quarterbacks. His efficiency within Detroit’s offense and ability to limit turnovers remain major strengths. 10. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears Williams rounds out the top 10 after an impressive breakthrough season. Evaluators believe his combination of arm talent, creativity and athleticism gives him one of the league’s highest ceilings.

Betting Outlook

Quarterback rankings often influence both MVP futures and Super Bowl odds entering training camp. Allen and Mahomes remain the favorites in most MVP markets, while Burrow, Jackson and Stafford also sit among the leading contenders. Bettors will also closely watch the development of Maye and Williams, whose continued progression could make New England and Chicago attractive value plays throughout the season. From a team perspective, Buffalo and Kansas City again enter the season among the Super Bowl favorites at sportsbooks like BetMGM and FanDuel thanks largely to their elite quarterback play. Cincinnati, Baltimore, Los Angeles and Detroit also remain popular futures selections, while the Patriots and Bears could emerge as sleeper teams if their young quarterbacks continue to develop.
