Miami Bettors Cash In Despite Indiana National Championship

The Indiana Hoosiers have gone from one of the worst teams in college football to national champions. The team became the first to finish 16-0 in more than a century after beating the Miami Hurricanes 27-21 at Hard Stadium in south Florida.
Head coach Curt Cignetti has turned the Hoosiers into a powerhouse in just two years. That culminated on Monday with an unlikely national title.
“It’s a great story, tremendous story,” the former James Madison coach said afterward. “Most people would tell you that are in the know, it’s probably one of the greatest stories of all time.”
The game may have been won by Indiana, but a wager on the Hurricanes paid off for Miami bettors. The Hoosiers were favored by 8.5 coming into the contest and over bets were also rewarded as the total score topped 46.5.
The Hoosiers led 10-0 at the half, but the Hurricanes surged in the second half. Kaelon Black led the way for Indiana with 79 rushing yards. Roman Hemby pitched in another 60 yards on the ground.
Late in the game, the Hurricanes looked to have a shot at a win after moving the ball into Hoosier territory. But Carson Beck threw an interception to Jamari Sharpe with 44 seconds remaining to secure the win for Indiana. The squad became the seventh-straight favorite to win the championship game.
