Thomas SnodgrassSenior Writer

After Denver’s 1-5 start, they are now at 6-5, just outside a Wild Card spot in the AFC Playoff picture.

In Week 13, the Broncos will head down to Houston to face C.J. Stroud and the Texans, another 6-5 team knocking on the door of the AFC Playoff picture.

According to Pro Football Focus, this is possibly a “make or break” game for Denver and Houston.

It’s only Week 13, but this matchup could have more on the line than expected.

Only time will tell.

For this potentially playoff-altering matchup, I’ll place a Same Game Parlay on FanDuel.

C.J. Stroud – OVER 261.5 Passing Yards AND OVER 1.5 TD Passes

Stroud has been one of the best rookie quarterbacks in the NFL over the last few years, and he continues to put up impressive numbers.

This season, Stroud is averaging 296.9 passing yards per game and against the Broncos’ 23rd-ranked passing defense, allowing 248.8 passing yards per game, he should be able to move the offense downfield through the air.

As long as Stroud continues to play well in the friendly and domed confines of NRG Stadium in Houston, it’s hard not to back him here.

Here’s how Stroud has fared at home this season:

Stroud’s Home GamesStroud’s Results
Week 2: vs. Indianapolis30/47, 384 yds, 2 TD
Week 4: vs. Pittsburgh16/30, 306 yds, 2 TD
Week 6: vs. New Orleans13/27, 199 yds, 2 TD, INT
Week 9: vs. Tampa Bay30/42, 470 yds, 5 TD
Week 11: vs. Arizona23/37, 336 yds, 2 TD, 3 INT
Week 12: vs. Jacksonville26/36, 304 yds, 2 TD

That’s an average of 333.2 passing yards per home game with a 15:4 touchdown to interception ratio.

Although Denver’s defense has only allowed an average of 201.8 passing yards over their last five games, I still believe that the Texans’ offense will be throwing early and often.

I just don’t see Houston attempting to win this game on the ground.

Pick: Stroud – OVER 261.5 Passing Yards (-114 FanDuel)

Pick: Stroud – OVER 1.5 TD Passes (-132 FanDuel)

Russell Wilson – OVER 221.5 Passing Yards AND OVER 1.5 TD Passes

Wilson has not racked up too many passing yards lately, but I’d expect him to throw it more than he did last week against the Cleveland Browns, when he only attempted 22 passes.

If this game is close, as the three-point spread favoring Houston suggests, Wilson may need to try and keep up with Stroud.

The Texans’ defense has not held opposing quarterbacks in check, allowing an average of 285 passing yards per game in the last five weeks, even allowing Jacksonville Jaguars’ QB Trevor Lawrence to throw for a season-high 364 yards.

Wilson has recorded an average of 199.9 yards per game, and has thrown for 20 touchdown passes in 11 games, and while those numbers look nothing like his days in Seattle, his QB rating of 103.4 does look like Seattle Russ.

The Broncos’ were left for dead after the first six weeks, but Wilson’s smart and efficient play has this Denver team crawling out of the grave.

If head coach Sean Payton wants to get his team past Houston and into the playoff picture, he’ll need to “Let Russ Cook”.

A toasted Texans’ defensive secondary and a sprinkle of some playoff hopes are solid base ingredients for Wilson’s next dish.

Pick: Wilson – OVER 221.5 Passing Yards (-114 FanDuel)

Pick: Wilson – OVER 1.5 TD Passes (+116 FanDuel)

Courtland Sutton – OVER 4.5 Receptions AND OVER 57.5 Receiving Yards

Sutton is the clear No. 1 target for Wilson this season, leading the Broncos with 68 targets, 15 more than the next man.

That’s an average of 6.2 targets per game, and if I expect Wilson to throw a little more than usual, then I expect Sutton to see a few more targets than usual.

Sutton is averaging 4.4 receptions and 50.9 receiving yards per game, and this week he will be shadowed by Texans’ cornerback Steven Nelson, and Nelson was burned by Calvin Ridley last week for five catches on six targets for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Over the last three games, Sutton has been a strong contributor to Denver’s offense, regardless of the number of targets, tallying 61 yards against the Browns last week on only three catches.

Sutton is averaging 60 yards over the last three weeks, and failing to find the endzone last week against Cleveland snapped his five-game touchdown streak.

In a game where Wilson may need to chuck it, Sutton is the man to keep an eye on.

Pick: Sutton – OVER 4.5 Receptions (-122 FanDuel)

Pick: Sutton – OVER 57.5 Receiving Yards (-114 FanDuel)

Betting NFL Same Game Parlays

Same game parlay is just like a regular NFL parlay bet, except all bet selections come from different wagers within one football game.

The benefit of an NFL same game parlay is achieved by combining multiple bets so you can go for bigger wins as the odds increase.

The more bet selections you add, the more difficult it is to win, but the odds also greatly increase so is the potential winning amount.
