Mike
Just over 20 years ago, Shaquille O’Neal famously took a verbal jab at the Sacramento Kings organization after the Kings and Lakers had played several extremely intense playoff series against each other.
All of them won by the Lakers.
“We’re not worried about the Sacramento Queens. Not at all. Like I said, I’m not worried about the Sacramento Queens. Write it down, take a picture, send it to them. I don’t care.”
– Shaquille O’Neal, 2002
Unfortunately for Kings fans, they were never able to make Shaq eat his words, and since 2006, Sacramento has missed the playoffs in 16 consecutive years.
That is the longest playoff drought in NBA history.
The last time Sacramento actually won a playoff series was in 2004, when they knocked off the Dallas Mavericks.
Current Kings All-Star De’Aaron Fox was just six years old when that happened. He is now 25 and will celebrate his 26th birthday later this year.
Speaking Of De’Aaron Fox
Although the Kings have been a miserable franchise for over a decade and a half, we are not here to discuss their organizational failings.
Instead, we have gathered here today in hopes of winning a bet.
Specifically, we are betting on De’Aaron Fox to go OVER his made 3-Pointers tonight.
His total for their game against the Boston Celtics has been set at +1.5.
Above is a snapshot of Fox’s made 3-P’s in his last six games.
Understanding that Green is good, we can see the Sacramento point guard has made at least two 3-Ps in five of his last six contests. (83.33%)
Our graphic also provides a projection suggesting that Fox to go OVER his 3-P total has a 15.35% edge in our favor.
De’Aaron Likes It Downtown
For the season, Fox is shooting 34% from beyond the arc. But, over his last ten games, that percentage is over 39%.
Our graphic above details how many 3-P attempts Fox has put up over the past six games. In 5 of his last 6, Fox has at least six attempts from 3-Point land.
That, in combination with shooting 3’s at a 40% clip, is a good thing for OVER bettors.
D-Fox Trends That Support Our Bet
- Recorded 2+ three-pointers in 5 of his last 6 (83.33%) games.
- Recorded 2+ three-pointers in 5 of his last 5 (100%) games when his team was the underdog. (Kings are +4.5 at home vs Boston)
- Recorded 2+ three-pointers in 6 of his last 8 (75%) games when he scored at least 27 points last game. (scored 37 points last game vs Utah)
The Celtics vs Kings might be the NBA game of the night.
Along with cheering for the Kings to have the biggest collapse in NBA history and somehow miss the playoffs for a 17th straight season, I’m looking for other reasons to tune in.
Taking Fox to go OVER his 3P total against the Celtics isn’t as much fun as cheering for the Kings to have the biggest collapse in NBA history.
But it might just be a little more profitable.
Best of luck with all your NBA player props and parlays this week.
